Online business loans put business capital a few taps away. There’s no branch appointment, no printing or scanning, and no waiting for someone to post a form back. With FastBiz Loans you start with a 60-second enquiry, share your bank statements by secure link and can have a decision in as little as 4 hours. Here’s exactly what happens, step by step, and why it’s safe.

How does an online business loan application work?

It works in six short stages, all online, and most of your part takes less time than a coffee run:

  1. Enquire. Tell us who you are, what your business does and roughly how much you need. It takes about 60 seconds and doesn’t affect your credit score.
  2. Talk it through. A lending specialist calls to understand what the money is for and which of our six products fits.
  3. Share your statements. Connect your business bank account by secure read-only link, or upload 3–6 months of statements.
  4. Verify. Upload photo ID and confirm your ABN or ACN. Loans over $150,000 also need financial statements.
  5. Get a decision. In as little as 4 hours from the moment your documents are in.
  6. Sign and fund. E-sign the documents. Same-day funding is possible once everything is signed.

What happens after you hit submit?

Plenty happens quickly behind the scenes. This is the path most applications follow.

The Reserve Bank has noted that lenders now use transaction histories and bank statement analysis to automate much of their decision-making. Automation handles the sorting. A person still makes the call. If you’re curious about that step, read how business loan decisions are made in 4 hours.

Is it safe to share bank statements online?

Yes, when it’s done through a secure, read-only method. There are three common ways to share your statements, and none of them lets a lender move your money.

MethodHow it worksWhat the lender receivesSpeed
Consumer Data Right (open banking)You’re redirected to your own bank to approve sharing with an accredited recipientRead-only transaction data for the period you approveFastest
Secure bank-statement linkA secure portal retrieves a one-off, read-only copy of your statementsA complete statement fileFast
PDF uploadYou download statements from internet banking and upload themThe files you sendCan be slower if pages or months are missing

The Consumer Data Right has strong built-in protections. According to the OAIC:

  • Data can only be shared with your consent, and only with businesses accredited under the scheme.
  • You authorise the sharing through your own bank, so you don’t give your password to the recipient.
  • Your consent expires after 12 months.
  • Each recipient must give you a dashboard where you can withdraw or change your consent.

How to check you’re dealing with a genuine lender

A few quick checks protect you from scams dressed up as online lenders:

  • Look up the business name on ABN Lookup at abr.business.gov.au and check it’s active.
  • Type the website address yourself rather than clicking a link in an unexpected text or email.
  • Be wary of anyone who asks for a payment to “release” or “unlock” a loan before it’s approved.
  • Never share your internet banking password by email, text or phone.
  • Be sceptical of any promise that approval is certain before your details have been looked at.

Online doesn’t mean faceless

You’ll deal with a real lending specialist. Online simply removes the parts of borrowing that used to waste your time: the appointment, the paperwork and the chasing. It keeps the part that helps you, which is a person who understands business finance and can point you to the right product.

That matters because the right product isn’t always the obvious one. An owner asking for a lump sum to cover slow-paying clients may be better served by invoice finance. Someone topping up stock every season might prefer a line of credit they can reuse.

Example scenario — illustrative only. Tom runs an e-commerce homewares store from a Gold Coast warehouse. At 7:40am he submits an enquiry for $60,000 to buy stock ahead of a big sale period. A lending specialist calls mid-morning, and Tom links his business account from his phone while packing orders. His ID and ABN are uploaded by 10:30. By early afternoon he has a decision, and after e-signing the documents that afternoon, the funds are released the same day. Every step happened online, fitted around a normal working day.

What slows an online application down?

Most delays are small and easy to avoid:

  • Missing the call. If you can’t pick up, reply to the follow-up message with a good time to talk.
  • Statements in the wrong account. If some revenue runs through a second account, share that one too.
  • Blurry or expired ID. Take the photo in good light and check the expiry date.
  • Larger loans without financials ready. Above $150,000, have your accountant’s statements on hand before you apply.
  • Late-afternoon signing. Same-day funding depends on when documents are signed, so sign as soon as you’ve read them.

Who are online business loans best suited to?

They suit almost any established business that banks electronically, which in 2026 is nearly all of them. They’re especially handy if you:

  • Work on the tools, on the road or behind a counter and can’t get to a branch in business hours
  • Want an answer in hours rather than weeks, because an opportunity has a deadline
  • Run lean books and would rather let bank statements do the talking than prepare a formal loan pack
  • Live in a regional area where the nearest business banker is a long drive away

If you’d like to see the full journey laid out visually first, how it works walks through each stage.

Questions we get asked

Are online business loans safe?

They can be very safe when the lender uses secure, read-only methods to collect your bank data. Under the Consumer Data Right, you approve sharing through your own bank, never hand over your password, and can withdraw consent from a dashboard. Always check who you're dealing with before sharing anything.

Can a lender take money from my account if I share bank statements?

No. Bank statement sharing gives read-only access to transaction data. It can't move money. Repayments are only set up separately, with your signed authority, once a loan is approved and accepted.

Do I need to talk to anyone?

A lending specialist will contact you after your enquiry to confirm what the funds are for and which product fits. It's usually a short call, and it often speeds things up because questions are answered on the spot.

Does the online enquiry affect my credit score?

No. The 60-second enquiry doesn't affect your credit score. A credit check only happens later, if you decide to go ahead with an application.

Can I apply for an online business loan on my phone?

Yes. The enquiry, bank statement link, ID upload and e-signing all work on a phone. Many owners finish the whole thing between jobs or in a lunch break.

What if I'd rather upload PDF statements?

That works too. It can be slightly slower, because PDFs need to be checked for completeness, so make sure you send full statements covering the whole period without missing pages.
